5 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN RENTING IN LONDON

Based on experience, the Top 5 things to consider are:

The Property:

What size property do you need?, e.g. how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms? Do you need a garden, do you need parking?

Where do you want to live?

How well do you know London? Do you already know where you’d like to live or would you like to explore different areas before deciding? What are the local amenities and transport options like in your neighbourhoods of interest in getting to work and, perhaps, school. And to the airport!

When would you like to move in to your new home in London?

Most rental properties become available up to 2 months’ in advance of them being available. Timing in key!

How long would you like to live at the property?

1 year, 2 years, 3 years…. The longer you can commit for, the better terms you will probably able to agree with the landlord.

Rental budget?

How much do you want to spend on rent per calendar month? There are other expenses in addition to your monthly rent to take into consideration too:

  • Council Tax - the amount differs according to the size of the property and the neighbourhood

  • Electricity

  • Gas

  • Water supply

  • Internet

  • BBC TV licence (if required)

  • Contents insurance (if required)
