GETTING AROUND LONDON

London is a big city! But we have an amazing public transport network to get you around.

The London Underground (or the “Tube” as it’s affectionately called) connects all points of London; from east to west and north to south. Each tube line is colour-coded so it’s easy to navigate. The tube map also shows you where each line interconnects with other tube lines, Overground lines and National Rail stations too.

The London Overground - yes, we have an Overground too. This is a network of trains that run “around” the centre of London that interconnect with some of the main Underground (“tube”) stations on the network. The London Overground is sometimes quicker for getting from east to west or north to south than taking the tube; it depends on your journey.

Buses - our famous red double decker busses are still around! They are a great way of getting around London and seeing the sights at the same time.

National Rail - these are our mainline trains that connect London to other towns and cities throughout the UK. Stations include, Kings Cross, Victoria, Liverpool Street.

Taxis - the London Black Cab is world-famous. Each Black Cab driver has undergone years of learning the roads of London and the best routes across town - without the help of sat nav!

Uber is also here in London as well as other taxi apps, e.g. Bolt and FreeNow.

Bikes - there are a number of bike companies where you can hire a bike on as-needed-by-bases, e.g. Santander bikes.

London does have a rush hour; from 7am to 9am in the morning and from 5pm to 7pm in the evening so best to avoid if you can. You can also check in advance if there are any delays on any of the public transport networks at any time to help ease your trip.
